Coronavirus COVID-19

At the WSU Children’s Center we are doing our part to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  The Center suspended child care services Wednesday March 18 with a planned reopening April 27.  With the extension of the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, we have extended our suspension of direct services until further notice.  As new information becomes available,we will communicate with enrolled families directly and post updates here.

Update:  As of May 18 2020, the Children’s Center is in planning  mode for resuming childcare services, but does not yet have a date to do so.  We are reviewing emerging guidance regarding best practice for childcare in our current COVID19 situation.  We will establish protocols to decrease the risk of exposure that is inherent in group care and will communicate these new protocols directly to enrolled families as they are finalized.  The reopening date will be set in consultation with WSU administration and following guidance from national, state and local health care officials.  Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure the maximum level of health and safety for families and staff.

We continue to take applications for enrollment; enrollment capacity may need to temporarily decrease to follow COVID guidance from health officials.  See Waitlist FAQ page for enrollment information

*Student rate reflects the contribution from the Services and Activities (S&A) fee allocation. For 2019-20, student family tuition is reduced by 20% with this funding. Reduction percentage is based on estimates of student-family enrollment, and may be adjusted if the number of student families increases significantly.

Registration Fee: New families or those who lapse in enrollment for 12 months will be charged a $50 non-refundable registration fee per family.

Late Fee:  A $35 late fee will be assessed for bills not paid in full by the 5th of the month of service, unless an approved payment arrangement is in place.

Overtime Rates: Overtime rates are charged when a child is present before or after scheduled hours. Rates for overtime are $1.00 per minute.

Closures:  August 7-9, 2019 (Staff training), all official university holidays, December 19, 2018-January 2, 2019 (Winter closure and staff training) and all other official university holidays.  WSUCC closes for emergency closures or suspended operations.  See parent handbook for details.

Monthly tuition is calculated by dividing the number of open days by 12 months, creating a consistent monthly tuition rate.  Thus, planned closures have been included in the calculation of monthly tuition and do not result in prorated tuition for the months in which they occur. To cover increases in salaries/wages, materials and equipment, annual fee increases of 3-5% should be anticipated.
